In the world of custom cabinetry there are many different construction styles. If you have ever flipped through a " home " magazine you have probably recognized these differences. Most of these differences refer to where the doors are placed on the cabinet in reference to the door openings. There are many differences as well when it comes to cabinet door construction. So to educate our clientelle we have put together this reference catalog and glossary. As i'm sure you are well aware of, there are many words that are probably " greek " to most people not affiliated with the cabinet industry. We in the buisness refer to these words as " cabinet lingo ". I'm confident that after studying this reference catalog and glosary that you will become very familiar with the different terms that make up this " cabinet lingo ".
Our Story
Our Company Story
Travis Weeden began working in the construction industry in San Diego County, California at the age of 13 with the "family buisness" that his grandfather owned. From a very young age he has been around and worked on building new homes and remodeling old ones. Travis worked on and off for his grandfather for a number of years untill he landed his first job in a cabinet shop when he was 21 years old. Travis quickly picked up the cabinet trade and was egar to learn all that he could. Two years later Travis was offered a job as the lead installer for a large high end cabinet shop in San Diego County. He would go on to run crews of up to 8 men on very large scale projects in upscale communities such as La jolla, Del Mar, Poway, Rancho Bernardo, and Rancho Santa fe. Many of the homes he worked on would range in price from 2.5 million to 30 million dollars. Travis continued to work for this shop for the next 3 1/2 years perfecting his skills as a master cabinet installer and trim carpenter untill he was offered a job by a very large cabinet company focusing on pre-finished production cabinetry for tract homes and commercial properties. Although he didn't enjoy this work as much as his previous job, he was learning a whole new aspect of the trade and broadening his knowlege as a carpenter. Travis stayed with that company for close to 4 years and he was starting to see the economic downturn in Southern California. So in 2004 he moved to Austin Texas and found a job with a local high end cabinet company and soon became the top installer within that company. Then he decided to become a sub-contract installer working for many high end cabinet shops in the surrounding Austin area while also building his trim buisness. In the mean time his wife Heidi was working as a cabinet sales rep for one of the companies Travis was installing for. Soon they put thier skills and resources together and founded Precision Woodcrafting in 2005. Travis and Heidi, have since gone on to provide cabinets and trim work to some of the most high end builders and designers in the greater Austin area. They also participated in the 2008 Parade of Homes, where many of the rooms in the house won awards. Precision Woodcrafting became members of the Austin Home Builders Association in 2009.
